I used to be an English teacher, I have gone from deconstructing a living language
... to building dreams with programming languages.
March 16th 2022 I received the life-changing email confirming my place on the next School of Code bootcamp. An intense learning experience to grow into the role of a full stack software developer. The application process was vigorous, especially as I had never done anything previously with HTML, CSS or JavaScript. My journey into code had begun…
It was an extraordinary learning journey with the amazing School of Code and incredible fellow boot-campers. In just 16 weeks we were able to, working in remote teams, design, plan and build a full stack app. We had gone from the basics of JavaScript to using React in the Next.js framework. My journey was well on its way...
After the bootcamp I continued to develop my skills and knowledge by building more projects and a portfolio website to host them. Using Node.js and Express.js to construct REST API servers, using React.js and next.js to build interactive sites, getting to grips with Tailwind to make responsive web pages, and hooking it all up to Databases utilising PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
Professional software development since December 2022 applying the continuous evolution of my coding skills to a business environment. Turning use cases and user stories into designs and taking those designs into code. Embracing the T-3 stack, I have honed my ability to produce performant, type-safe applications.
